NOTTINGHAM YOUTH CRICKET LEAGUE

PLAYING REGULATIONS
UNDER 12 (11-a-side), 13, 14, 15 & 17 DIVISIONS

All games shall be played in accordance with the official Laws of Cricket, except to the extent they are varied as follows:-

  1. Under 17 Division - Players are to be under 17 years of age on the 31st August prior to the current season.
    Under 15 Division - Players are to be under 15 years of age on the 31st August prior to the current season.
    Under 14 Division - Players are to be under 14 years of age on the 31st August prior to the current season.
    Under 13 Division - Players are to be under 13 years of age on the 31st August prior to the current season.
    Under 12 (11-a-side) Division - Players are to be under 12 years of age on the 31st August prior to the current season.
    GIRLS - May play up to two years older than her counterparts at any age group.

  2. Overs to be bowled :-
    20 x 6 ball overs maximum, games may be reduced to NOT LESS than 16 x 6 ball overs. Maximum number of overs for each bowler NOT to exceed 4.

  3. Points to be awarded :-
    Match WON 4 Points
    Match TIED 2 Points
    Match LOST 0 Points

  4. It is the responsibility of the manager of the winning team to enter and confirm the results at www.nycl.play-cricket.com, or to return fully completed scorecards, either by post or e-mail, to the Divisional Secretary within three days of the match being played. In the event of a tied match, this becomes the responsibility of the home team.

  5. If two or more teams finish equal on points, the winner of the match between any such teams will be placed the higher, otherwise the team with the highest net runs per wicket average (runs per wicket average for minus runs per wicket average against) will be placed the higher.

  6. Under 12 (11-a-side) and Under 13 Divisions:-
    Batters will retire upon reaching 35 runs but may return if all other wickets have been lost
    Games to be played with a ball weighing 4¾ oz.
    Pitch length to be 21 yards.
    The size of the stumps should be 27” x 8”
    Close fielding - NO fielder be allowed to field closer than 11 yards, measured from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the offside, until the batter has played at the ball. Should any fielder come within that distance the umpire MUST STOP the game immediately, and instruct the fielder to retreat to the required distance.

  7. Under 14 and Under 15 Divisions:-
    Batters will retire upon reaching 50 runs but may return if all other wickets have been lost
    Games to be played with a ball weighing 5½ oz.
    Pitch length to be 22 yards.
    Close fielding - NO fielder be allowed to field closer than 8 yards, measured from the middle stump, except behind the wicket on the offside, until the batter has played at the ball. Should any fielder come within that distance the umpire MUST STOP the game immediately, and instruct the fielder to retreat to the required distance.

  8. Under 17 Division:-
    Batters will retire upon reaching 50 runs but may return if all other wickets have been lost
    Games to be played with a ball weighing 5½ oz.
    Pitch length to be 22 yards.

  9. All batters must wear a helmet whilst batting. Wicketkeepers must wear a helmet when standing up to the stumps. Parental consent forms will not be accepted. [Full ECB Guidance is available at http://www.play-cricket.com]

  10. It is the responsibility of the home team to supply a match ball of suitable quality.

  11. It is the responsibility of BOTH team managers to confirm the fixture prior to its being played.

  12. 5 run disciplinary penalties, as variously provided for under the Laws of Cricket will not be applied.

  13. The normal start time for an evening game is 6pm. The normal start time for a morning game is 10am. These times may be varied by agreement between the two team managers.
